Things have been growing along beautifully under the artificial sun. Now have several trusses on both my two Red Alerts. I did worry that being indoors the fruit wouldn't set, but I found an article that suggested the use of an electric tooth brush. That obviously work as I today noticed a tiny tomato. About the size of a plump pea.
Sometimes you just have to scratch that itch and get dirt under your finger nails.
Just been repotting my toms. Best tomato plant sown 22/12/11 is the Maja - about 4" high, short and stout. Next best is probably a Bajaja sown the same day but only half the size of the Maja. Some of the plants are a bit leggy now but I've dropped them down into bigger pots.
Sadly I lost all my tomato info when my lapdog suddenly decided to die t'other day so, until I get round to researching them all again I've no idea what to expect
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.
Well, if they were from my seeds I got a lovely sprawling bush tomato, with fruits the size of large hens eggs but a bit flatter; and as many from one plant as you would get from a cherry tomato. So think 'cherry tomato but bigger fruits' and you won't go far wrong. Nice all rounder taste as well, not too acid, not bland, not too sweet. Mine [and I had about 3] just kept on and on and on fruiting and they were in buckets outside.
My G+T top ability group at the moment: pantano, moneymaker, sungold, 2x gardners delight.
The bottom set who are still behind and will take their time: black cherry tomato, latah very early x2, minibell x2, sungold the other one, garden pearl and yellow stuffer.
It doesn't sound like my Garden Pearl toms will be up to much never mind, hopefully the Tiny Tim's will be a nicer taste.
hi bren i've got some tiny tim and garden perle tom and considered that your name is dren in pots i guest you grow them in pot.... can you tell me how big are your pot and how many of each you plant in one pot? i'm quite new on growing my veggie and i thought 2 per flower bucket or 16'' hanging basket will do....
Sarico I used to grow just one tom in each flower bucket and they did fairly well so long as I kept them well watered. I've had a greenhouse for the last 3 years so i grow now them in the borders with any spares going out in the garden beds.
Thanks zaz.
Yes, it was one of your seeds. I only sowed one because I have so many other varieties on the go. (Grumpy's already moaning that we have too many!)
I'm growing your Blue OSU, Losetto, TOGI F5 and Rambling Gold as well (and was Green Grape yours?).
Lime Green Salad was one of yours too, wasn't it zazen?
Is that a bush?
I had lovingly prepared Word docs, with pictures, expected times to maturity, plant sizes, fruit sizes, previous growing experience (mine and others') etc on over 100 tomato varieties - but I hadn't backed up to the external hard drive since June
so they've all gone to the big hard drive in the sky (and I wish I meant Cloud computing )
