It's all your fault Miss Z - so now I'm looking at the GO seed catalogue too. Need another greenhouse. So many tomatoes, too little space!

Can I just point out, for the sake of avoiding confusion, that being a 'Seed Guardian' and being 'a member of the Heritage Seed Library' are not the same thing? If you're 'just a member', you save seed for yourself, if you want to and are able to. If you're a 'Seed Guardian' then you are pledging to save the seed in the correct manner and send it back to the HSL.

I'm a member of HSL (well, actually, I'm not at the moment as I haven't renewed yet. It'll have to be a Christmas pressie to myself due to skintness!) and have never returned seed to HSL. I have swapped with lots of people on here though If you're just being 'a member', you can start off with easy-to-save stuff that doesn't need the same levels of isolation, such as peas and beans, tomatoes, and other things which don't readily cross-pollinate.

It still seems totally wrong to me, that you have to pay for the privilege of saving seeds for them, (seed guardian) it should be free to join, or at least a reasonable and fair price.

You don't save seeds for them, you save seeds for us. All of us.

They just count, weigh, pack, sort, list, store, test, produce a catalogue, receive your request, pick, sort, pack and send them. And gawd love 'em. For they are lovely people. I can attest to that.

You've just made me check I'd renewed mine as I'd be devasted if I didn't get the catalogue as it's one of my favourite bits of post every year. Thankfully fully paid up so no worries, it was bad enough last year when my catalogue didn't turn up until the New Year as it got stuck in the mess of the snow disrupted postal service

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
