I have a freind who works for a plastics factory specialising in injection moulding, and he was telling me they are really quiet at work, and his boss is looking for new products to manufacture, and I thought "I wonder if any of the Grapes can think of anything they would really like, but no-one makes"

So, Is there?

Why does it have to be something that no-one else makes? Horticulture is a large user of plastics - flowerpots, seed trays, even tools nowadays. There are even bottle tops to attach to drinks bottles to use for watering. All these things have proven demand so surely profits could be generated from that type of thing. I'm sure subtle differences to existing products could be introduced to get round difficulties with patents etc. Must be worth exploring for a company with capacity available.

Triangular flower pots, which interlock to form a block and could be fitted within a window sill wide tray. Think interlocking teeth. The unused corner at each end of the rectangular tray would be used for watering or feeding the pots from underneath. Each pot could be sown with 3 seeds, one in each corner, thinned out to the strongest. Or a selection of individual plants like cacti could be displayed in them. Bright colours would be good.

I've always wanted decent quality solid square/rectangular plastic plant containers sized to fit under aluminum greenhouse staging, self watering, or with fitted trays to hold water for the pots. I have a solid greenhouse floor and need to plant in pots but they have to be deep enough and hold a decent quantity of compost.

Currently I use growbags under my staging for toms but they are not deep enough and do not really fit properly to make best use of the space either.

There are decent things out there but they cost a fortune and do not really have the fit I want.

I can't be the only one who wants this solution?

square pots that have a tray to sit in that you can water and it won't come out until it's passed the raised bits where there are holes so you can't overwater. [oops, just read above , great minds stormin....]

Hows about some root trainers that are stronger than the present type, ones that don't split after two seasons. I'd be interested in some of them.

Trouble with these plastic products is that they are always so damned expensive. Those slot together cloches are good but who wants to put £60 of product on their allotment, even if they could afford such money on plastic. The plastic rollapath is good too but again ridiculous money. I agree on stronger root trainers. Maybe look at the airpot technology and develop that further, built in water reservoirs. Someone earlier was asking about them for tomato growing.

I cant get my head around this, Is it a trianguler top then perpendicular walls with a triangular bottom? If so how would this help watering from the bottom?

Yes, triangular top and bottom, perpendicular sides. You can fit more triangular pots into a given width than you can square pots. Triangles fitted on a rectangular base would leave a small space at each end of the base which could be used to add water to the tray without disturbing the pots or watering onto the seeds. There could be ridges in the tray base to channel the water along.

I want pink or blue or lilac or any colour female and not workmen looking gel knee pads , I'll even try them out for you. How about removable ergonomic grip that slots onto hoe etc,and would stop the blisters on our delicate hands
