I grew rooster in bags last year, but any will do fine as long as you give them enough water and nutrient (spud fert).

I've not decided yet. Pink Fir Apples again, definitely, and I want to try one of the blue fleshed varieties (even if the yield is rubbish, I get a kick out of veg I can't find anything like in the shops) Does anyone have any recommendations for these?
I'm also undecided on first earlies, I know I want some, but which to pick...

I'll probably be going to one or more potato days, and getting them there, so I should write a list to stop myself going overboard!

I've been doing a bit of reading up on Ayrshire potatoes, my Mum adores them but says that they are not the same these days. From what I can gather they are Epicure fed with seaweed so i'll be giving them a go.

I have two types that I grew from potato seed last year so i'll be planting some of those to see what I get back.

I fancy trying Pink Fir Apple too but think i'll wait till our potato day in January to make my mind up.

Salad blue are lovely for a blue fleshed one and gave me a decent crop. We ate all our boiled but apparently you can mash. Re earlies, I'd go for Ulster Classic every time, really really tasty.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thanks! I'll give them a go. I hadn't found anything really but sellers' reviews of the blue ones. I can't remember what earlies I tried this year they were OK, but nothing special.

Picasso's my only must-have...they make the most amazing roast potatoes. This article's a potential help in choosing:

Potato Varieties, What to Grow For Flavour, boiling, baking, roasting, chipping, mashing, salad

We had a MASSIVE return on Voyager this year, also good results from Piccasso, Dunluce and Setanta. Not tempting fate and will stick with these but would like a recommendation for good waxy salad spud.............................being Irish I love the more floury ones but OH English and requires something more meaty on occasion!
