label issue with me too. Either the writing wore off (sun or rain) or when I potted things on forgot to put the label in too...

don't do resolutions. They always get broken so what's the point
Having said that, I would like to end the year knowing more than when I started.

Interesting SC I may resort to containers if I fail in soil. I do now think I sowed too early...must sit on hands.Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein

Hey VVG,just had a quick look at SC link, have a look in skips on building sites & grab any rainwater downpipe lengths/offcuts cut to 18" & tie in bundles fill as per link & sow 1 'snip in each, germination seems to be improved if seeds are set in a thin layer of sandHe who smiles in the face of adversity, has already decided who to blame

I'm with Zaz and Potty on the White plastic labels and Pencil. Just a pain when the Pup runs off with them!
My resolutions? Erm, well, I never keep them, so don't bother making them. Must try harder! That's what they used to put on my School report!Last edited by Glutton4...; 11-12-2011, 10:20 PM.All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

Thanks for all your advice, chaps & chapesses, about labelling. Since you mostly all agreed that pencil and white plastic labels were the way forward, my new resolution is:-
To label everything with a pencil and white plastic labels!
(Bet you thought I'd say something completely off the wall like cockle shells painted with nail varnish - now there's an idea.)

I get good sized carrots in a compost bin of compost and sand 50/50 mix. That's what I used this year as it put them three foot in the air!Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein

Mainly to grow more efficiently - ie planning well, sowing well - so we can live off our own veg without having to buy too much from the supermarket (certainly during the summer/autumn.)
Its much harder than you think!!
We're gonna have an experiment next summer of living off what we produce entirely - (obviously not things like flour etc) and be pretty much without meat and in some of our cases, dairy too....!!!
Thats the plan anyway!!

I don't really do resolutions but...........
Less experimentation is on the cards and sticking with tried and tested varieties that I know work well in my region would be a start I suppose......My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
