        • Thanks! I'll give mine 2 weeks, and if nothing comes up, they're out in the garden and left to their own devices. The Banana shallots were new seeds so I'm hopeful for their future!

Longer than a couple of weeks, if you reuse the compost though - they usually pop up later when it gets a bit warmer, in all your other seedlings.

I have banana shallots up as well now.

              • Thanks Zaz. If I do abandon them, I'll put the compost in the greenhouse bed and they can do what they like there. Maybe some beetroot sowing for me tomorrow. I am enjoying this!!!

                    • today I have sown onions and celeriac...... onions are in modules in an unheated prop , in the little plastic blowaway , in the gh (cos they didn't fit on kitchen window sill) so hoping they'll germinate .......celeriac is on the window sill and a second sowing of shallots just in case the first lot don't show their faces.......

                          • OK - sown some roots - onion and three varieties of leek. Only a few because I want my main sowing to be done to the tune of synodic this year. More roots for me in three days.
