If you look up the plant on the GC site it will tell you what moon type it is. For example:-

So would you not plant roots until 20:43 on Monday then? Could be an early start for me on Tuesday!

        • Roots start with the full moon of the 6th, so I would start roots in 7th if it were me. Those times listed are for the bios.

          • Has anyone invented a lunar alarm clock that would sound the changes in sowing regimes? I imagine a wristwatch that would vibrate at the right time and have us all rushing to our seed trays. Just a thought...

That's what I sort of thought but thanks for confirming. I also realised that I'm panicking unnecessarily as it will still be roots next weekend.

              • Yes March but I'm with you on this, if the weather halts you, then it's a months wait again. Tricky weighing it up isn't it?

                • I'm just counting on using the tunnel to great effect as a mega cold frame! Potatoes are so tricky for us that anything is a bonus! So a few bags of earlies in the tunnel and then I'll chit the second earlies from March root day onwards and hold them in cold store if I can't get them in in April. I'll do carrots in loo rolls next week end and they can go inside or out. Leeks can go in a deep seed tray next weekend, too and just go out when they are ready.

I kept looking at all these jobs in the shed today like pot washing and it was so nice to think "I'll leave those to maintenance week" which meant I made the most of the day to do grass clearing (on my hopefully a garden) which I would have put of otherwise. I know it's maintenance but it is even less appealing than pot washing!

                  • Sowed broad bean Aquadulce claudia, meteor pea and douce Provence today. Then went for a lovely walk over the fields. Collected hazel poles and took photos...

                      • I looked at the moon tonight and thought 'roots' and lo and behold - Biodynamic isn't roots - it's leaves.

                        Which is just wrong!

                        So I'm switching to Synodic.
