Purple stems?

Hello all and happy new year
I've been playing around with growing different things under artificial lights 2 , 4 ft, one cool and one warm
when I started the seeds they were all started in a heated propagator then as soon as they were through into 2 inch ish pots and placed under the lights as close as poss no more than an inch away,
not on the propagator it's in another room
I've got a scotch bonnet which is doing well it's 3 inches roughly in a slightly bigger pot now but has a purple tinge to the stem and the edges of the leaves have curled up slightly it's very green and looks like it's on steroids tbh is the only way to describe it looks really veiny .....did that make any sense
the others are Roma tomatoes the stem is purple and the single vein through the leaf is purple the others are f1 diablow peppers these have purple leaves, all bar the scotch bonnet are baby's I only took them out of the propergator 4-5 days ago, I did the same in November and the same happened that time they were on the heated propagator on 24 hours a day and under the lights
I ended up turning the propergator off because I thought they were getting too much heat and getting leggy even directly under the lights, the daytime temperature is average prob on the cool side thanks to heating bills and cool at night no heating, one thing I've noticed though is I thought I'd have a crack at the bush tomato trial and the ones on the sills aren't purple at all?
I have reused soil from novembers session but the same soil is in the plant on the windowsill.......sorry about the essay lol does anyone have any ideas I'm panicking a bit I want to try and get it right for February thanks

My self seeded tomatoes have turned purple in the unheated greenhouse.

Oh, tomatoes. Sorry, Spunky, I couldn't take myself to reading it.

Perfectly normal. Quite a lot of them will boast some purple coloration to the stems.

If your tomatoes are by the window, then during the night time they'll experience cooler temperatures - which will account for the purple-ness.

They'll usually pick themselves up.. It's still very early to be sowing them, but quite a lot of us do here, as an experiment

This is what happens if you use a heated prop - they get used to the heat and get a little cold and thus - purple stems.

I do the opposite; I start them off with no heat other than what's in the kitchen and when they are about an inch tall; put them into unheated greenhouse [with a few layers of fleece] and that's when mine go purple...but if you grow them hard at the start, they really kick into action when the weather gets warmer. I find they do, anyway.

Anyhow. A lot of your chillies, peppers, tomatoes will boast purple colouring on stems even in the hottest gh and climate, especially at the forking area. Of stems, that is. Look at them in the summer.

The ones by the window are fine and there on tiles its the others that are at least 3 feet away from a window that are purple
