Mine were planted in October and I'm NOT an old codger ......
Sure sign you're an old codger is when you don't think you're an old codger...........

Mine went in a bit late, mid November at the allotment, but they are showing through nicely now. I usually plant them half term, which is the last week of Oct.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
Now a little Shrinking Violet.
The ones I started in October 2011 are doing ok I think - fantastic roots (I started them in modules so saw that when I planted them out in Nov) but I haven't looked to see if they are bulbing or anything - they're just being garlic at the moment. However the ones I put in in the horrible cold wet clay of Feb/March 2011 are not bulbing, probably because the clay around them is now hard and solid. I only found them a week ago - was surprised they were alive. One was under a cabbage. I may try relocating them (only 3 bulbs) to see if they prefer some worked soil rather than the cement they are currently locked in.
Not sure that helps at all! Except to say - I have some stubborn ones too, and they were also planted last spring.

i think that all the peculiar weather last year affected my garlic, very small compared to the usual crop,i sow mine in sept and they then get their winter chill, good luck to all for this years weather..
