I think we all get failures with onions at one time or another.
Back end of last year I was sat with an old gardening mate bemoaning the fact that some of my Red Baron had not grown to full size. "Don't worry" says he "Pull em up, cut of the roots and any greenery and store frost free over winter. Then plant them again in the spring."
Nothing ventured nothing gained, took his advice and low and behold 50% have now started growing again.
