  • Potato question

Sorry as i know there are threads about this but for some reason i'm allowed to put new threads but system wont let me on to add to other threads! - if anyone has any tips help would be appreciated.

My potatoes has just started to show through the soil in potato grow sacks - how soon should i earth them up? I was tempted to throw soil over to cover straight away but thought i'd better check!

    Thanks

Wait till the shoots are a couple of inches high then tuck them in cosy but don't quite cover the top leaves. That's the way I go - don't feel it is fair to cover them right up when they have made it to the top!
    Happy Gardening,

Just clicking on 'post reply' under the last comment - will obviously let me reply on my thread though!

Asks me to sign in which do and still rejects me. I've tried getting password etc e-mail but whatever they e-mail never works so i still get chucked out! It's been happening for last two weeks so haven't been on much as obviously can mostly only read (still useful though) so if moderator reads this please help!

I usually do the same as SHirl suggested and waith till they are about 3" high then ad 2" of compost that way the keep growing strongly.

As to your other troubles - I think a moderator has read it haven't you LJ

I wouldn't have thought you got frosts on Anglesey WVG. Don't you catch the Gulf stream?
