    I also had a big problem with pea thrips last year Pea thrips | GreenPlantProtection.eu which is probably because mine were sown late. Have to try and get them in earlier this year...

      Surely a lot of compost though for a row of peas, I've not found they need the depth that, say beans benefit from in root trainers so guttering works well, added to which you can plant out much quicker, always forget every year how long it takes to plant out all my broad beans which are in root trainers but then again I might just be a bit lazy

        I start mine in guttering and grow up chicken wire then just wave it in the bonfire at the end of the year to remove the dead stalks
        don't be afraid to innovate and try new things
        remember.........only the dead fish go with the flow
