If someone could produce some allium leaf miner resistant onion and leek seeds I for one would be very happy and wouldn't give a monkeys uncle whether they were F1 or not .......S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

I suppose growing some F1 is a bit like using e-mail instead of pen & paper and no one seems to object to that.
And yes I stopped at the 'B's but there does seem to be more F1 later on in Marshalls catalogue.

Did well for me last year TS, in fact I'm down to the last string of them now. I have also just germinated this years crop and they are now on the window sill!My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Real seeds is the main supplier I use, but even someone like moreveg.co.uk are good.
Just checked their site and;
courgettes are 12 OP 12 F1
cauliflowers are 13 OP 2 F1.
So I'd say there plenty of choice out there!Last edited by Paulieb; 31-01-2012, 10:52 AM.The more help a man has in his garden, the less it belongs to him.

TS, I used Golden Bear last year and only 5 or 6 got white rot so I am using them again. I did not take any photo's but they were quite large, best was 5" diameter and we are very happy with the taste.History teaches us that history teaches us nothing. - Hegel

I'm still new to all this and am trying mainly heirloom this year because I want a continuous production instead of large yields all at once, but if there would be hybrids that are actually selected to have a long production season with continuous small yields I would probably go for that - maybe they should make hybrids for gardeners next to the ones for farmers etc

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
