  • Cauliflower and cabbage seedlings

I have seedlings just emerging in the warmth of the house. I think I would like to move them to the unseated greenhouse to progress.

Do I need to harden them off?

    Loving my allotment!

Personally I wouldn't move them this weekend! Could you move them to a cooler place in the house in preparation for when it's a little milder. Depending on the temperature then, a propagator cover or fleece (or both) would help them to get over the initial shock of being evicted. I haven't sown anything get as once I start I can't stop and the family protest about the propagator on the dining room floor! Good Luck

With the weather forecast as is then don't put them out at all. Try to give them as much light as possible then when the weather picks up harden them off over 7 to 10 days before leaving them in your GH.

An unseated greenhouse? Reminds me of all those stories over New Years of the casualties of windy weather!!!

(I would not put them out yet either. I have just actually moved all my pots IN to the conservatory as my strawberries were frozen solid!!!)

It's so cold out there that I've been out to put protective newspaper round the potato foliage (it's 18" high and I don't want to lose it now)
