Lunar planting - 2006 - 2012

I've just acquired a free, unused copy of "Gardening and Planting by the moon 2006". Is there a way of making the 2006 dates relevant to 2012?
I assume that the lunar cycle is the same every year but that it moves on by a certain number of days each year, much as a normal calendar does. Any advice please?

Let us know if it's easy. Old moon calendars are very cheap, if not free!

Thanks M. I picked my book up at Healthy Planet. I thought that if I matched up the full moons there may be some pattern.
Just done that. There is a rough pattern where full moon in 2012 occurs approximately 6 or 7 days earlier in the month than in 2006. BUT to complicate things there are 13 full moons in 2012 but only 12 in 2006. The leap year throws it a day too.
As examples, 13 Feb 2006 & 7 Feb 2012: 14 March 2006 & 8 March 2012, 13 April & 6 April: 13 May & 6 May, 11 June & 4 June; 11 July & 3 July; 9 Aug & 2 Aug: 7 Sept & 31 Aug: 7 Oct & 31 Sept: 5 Nov & 29 Oct: 5 Dec & 28 Nov.
Any the wiser?

If you were synodic you'd be able to use it after Feb 29 as you wouldn't do anything major on the first or last days of each week anyway. You are battling the fact that the cycle is 29 point something days so the exact point of changeover will seem to be either 6 or 7 days either way. For bio you'd need better informed brain than mine. VVG to the rescue? Or just keep using her posts! What else is in the calendar?

I got rid of all my moon diaries - when I found out the author [Kollerstrom] was a Holocaust Denier. I found out, wrote down a few things I needed to know and dumped the whole lot in the bin. I'd never give him a penny more of my hard earned cash.

So - I can't help you there I am afraid.

The first half of the book explains the theory, how to understand the symbols, a monthly guide to gardening tasks etc. That would be relevant to any year. The second half is a diary, starting Oct 2005 with a space to fill in. Each day has the time of changeover too so that is another variable!

A little more reading and it seems to use the Sidereal calendar! Aaaaagh! No wonder I can't relate it to the Biodynamic calendar. Is anyone here using Sidereal?

I use 'Gwydion's Planting Guide', which I got from Ebay and a Quantum publication 'gardening and planting by the moon', which I bought on Amazon. Gwydion tells you what to plant/pot on during which lunar quarter and the quantum book breaks it down to the day/time of day for each plant.

Thanks Norm. The Quantum publication is the one that I have albeit 6 years out of date! It seems there is no straightforward way of translating from one year to another and that the only way to be sure is to buy an annual calendar or some sort - or follow the online ones. Guess what I shall be doing?

I bought a calendar by Maria & Mathias Thun....phew! talk about complicated
but after a few times of trying to read the little book I have gathered that not only do they talk of the moon phase, they say that what other astrological constellations, planets and aspects have also vital affects on plants.....they even say there are times of the month depending on whether your in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere makes a difference,...all I can say is I dont want to study and be an expert at "star watching" I just wanted a wall planner! which thankfully there is one
So if this "huge" study they've done for years is correct, it does make a big difference from year to year....as we know those little planets dart here and there all the time....
As it is my first proper year at attempting growing veg (I'm a flower person at heart) but am still very excited at prospect of growing some tasty veg and wanted to try this moon growing as I truly believe it does make a difference......just wished it could answer all my other millions of questions I will no doubt need answers for

Sorry VC, I've only just read your post - I'm using this years book Gardening & Planting by the moon by Kollerstrom(won't buy it next year Zaz ) and it usually agrees with the Biodynamic info that gets posted on here
