Could have been the cold - near kitchen window with very changeable weather.
Could have been too dry - bottom watered little by little. Worried about the surface being wet.

No mould or brown; began with the seed leaves going floppy, then the true leaves, then the stem bending.

So. Two good ones are now supported. Two suicidal ones chopped off and put into water. Only the second true leaves are still turgid.

Thanks everyone and watch this space.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

i have planted 6 courgettes seeds (free from the gyo mag) which have all germinated. Do i put them in a slightly bigger pot before planting them in a large pot/bed? When planting in a bed you have to make mound, do you have to do the same if gowing in a pot?

      thanks x

Only plant them out once you know for sure there won't be frost. They really flop over if they get frost damage, even give up completely. I got mine in little pots at the moment (5 cm across?) and will need to pot them on to a bigger pot before my last frost which is nearer the end of May, I think, judging by the size of it already.

You'd only make a mound if your soil is prone to flooding. You actually want to have a slight bowl/dip around the plant to collect water, because they're very thirsty

A saucer under a pot would do the same trick

          Oh, and SIX courgettes? !
Are you growing for the whole street?

I won't admit to how many I've got, but tis quite a few. Have potted on a good handful today. My motto when it comes to squashes:

Only had one last year, but there's a whole variety of different ones this year.

After planting so many courgettes seeds, that have all come up, i read about how many fruit they can produce, so i have managed to off load 2 of them to my dad, and hubby wants to let one go to a marrow. xx
