Wicke's compost.

I along with several other poster's have said what a good all round compost this is.

However I have today received a phone call from a mate who picked some up on Sat. He tells me that not only is the quantity down on previous years from 75ltr to 70ltr but the quality has gone way down hill.

His description 'its full of wood and half composted grass cuttings'.

Buyer beware.

Same with B and Q - too woody this year. Bags changed to something called Verve. Told Mr VVG I can use my own from now on.

thats why i always buy from b&q, ive bought from them for a while now and there compost has always been very good,(if it aint broke dont fix it).

VVG the Wickes bags are identical except for the change in quantity and the price is the same to.

I only use it for seed cutting and picked some up from a local store a couple of weeks ago, looks like I was lucky and got some of last years stock.

We used to use B&Q mpc until about 6 years ago when they produced an awful batch. Thats when we changed to Wickes which has been consistently good quality until now.

I too would be warey
Always used with good results but picked up 8 bags this week and opened one Saturday and was disappointed in contents
Seemed to pot up ok but will keep a careful ey on it

The wickes one I got at the end of last year was full of wood chippings. Ive been using some from wilkinsons so far this year (way less wood in it) and am going to try some of the morrisons compost soon.

Bottom - literally just bought 3 bags of Verve peat free from B&Q this Saturday (£10 for 180l). Ah well. Lucky I also inherited a sieve from my Grandpa last month.

I got my usual 4 bags a few weeks ago from wickes and found it up to the usual standard no bits or twigs, Asda compost is to be recomended
