Square foot gardening container

Hi everyone. I' a guy from Manchester and last year I decided to sow some courgette and when I saw the seedling growing grow my own is become my passion. I was reading some book that I had for Christmas and I read about square foot gardening and it sound a good idea for my rent house's patio. Because I'm in a rent house I can't make a bed on the patio so I found that was more convenient using a pot. So I thought to combine container garden with square foot garden. So I bought 24 square pot big 1 sqft making 2 4x3 bed. I was wondering if this idea would work or not.
Plus wich compost will be better to use?
On my garden I will grow also tomato garden delight and moneymaker along the fence ( lucky the fence is south facing so no problem for shadow)plus courgette in a 40 cm pot.
What I plan to plant in the 1sqft pot are:
Tomatoes tumbler and garden perp
Dwarf peas, mange tout, broadbean
Aubergine, sweet pepper, chilly, baby beet root, spring onion,
Plus I will try in a tiny piece of soil that I have butternut squash and pumpking.

i made a plan to show what i plan to plant this year and also the layout of the 1 sqft pot... as u can see there are some fruit tree as well and a strawberry tower. this is the picture

Looks good sarico. I would have been tempted to divide your borders into square feet if thats how you want to grow.

May I just say your plan template is fabulous.

... but also that I found strawberry towers to be awful: they dry out, they shade the ones lower down, they get vine weevils ...

Good idea, and welcome

My first suggestion would be to grow your tomato Tumbler in a hanging basket if thats possible. They are very suited to this way of growing and it would release your square pots for other veg.

as the others have said your gardening template looks very good, and all the veg your growung in them will work - apart from the sweetcorn - you wouldn't get too many in a pot ant they would topple over!

i thought to use that border but when i moved in this house i found out that the soil was full of brick and other building material. i think they put in there after they refurbished the house. plus when i check the quality of that soil was very poor of drainege and the ph was under 3 so because is rented house i'm not gonna spend money to change the soil and when i'll leave this house i can't take with me so i though is better using pot...

thanks. i love this forum because everyone are so helpfull.. i know that corn is not a great idea but i'll try anyway because only cost me 1 pound considered that i've already bought the pot. i'll put 2 maybe 3 plant per pot... is good have a try... i've request for an allotment but as you know is not easy to get one...

Your plan looks excellent. After doing it for quite a few years now I'd say there's virtually nothing that can't be container grown and you can get some very good yields if you feed them correctly.

You will need to keep an eye on the watering as pots tend to dry out very quickly.

Thanks do do you think that I will get a good result in pot? Anyway I wil water everyday and I will use a tomarite as feeding product. I also thinking of modify a little this plan like for the tomatoes moneymaker and garden delight I will cut the bottom do I can use as ring culture in grow bag just to give them a bit more room to grow plus with the bottom bit I will use in some container to make some self watering pot for my gardenperle tomatoes. I will appreciate if from an expert container gardener like you any tips. Thanks
