Spud emergency

All my spuds have been quietly chitting away in the daughters bedroom (she's at uni, costing a fortune!) I say quietly but Annabelle seems to have gone mental. The chits must be 5 inches long..........nice greeny/purply thick chit then a long white one. Best guess is she needs to be underground but isn't it too early? All the rest (maincrop mostly but a couple of first earlies) are behaving and not putting on enormous chits, just about 1/2 to 1".

What to do guys?

Some in pots because we don't have a huge amount of space, the rest in the garden........or actually my elderly neighbours garden, he's crippled with arthritis and so we help him out by planting for him in return for a portion of the spoils.

pick of these long straggly shoots . make sure the spuds are then in full light and they will throw new shoots

Thank you.......I assume I just take off the white ones not the nice purple/green thick ones. And am I right in thinking it is too early to plant

Yes just remove the long white spruts, the green/purple ones are what you are looking for. I think it may yet be a little early if you are planting outside with no protection.
