  • first crop of potatoes today

    So excited pulled my first crop of early new potaoes todayfrom the polytunnel, mixed sizes but many a good size, going to have for my tea . This is my first year wonder if I will feel the same next year.

    Where do you live, Kittykat8? I don't have a polytunnel but I've had some early crops from the greenhouse. Bet it's the nicest tea for ages!

              I am in camborne cornwall the weather has been been really mild I think I planted 2nd week february but could have been 1st or rd, they were lady crystal, the person who recommended these dig his today and said were not as big.

              it is really werid I seem to been growing loads of stuff when I was told it was not possible as I did not start plant things until november. i put it down to the mild weather. I have been in my tunnel in just a teashirt in January

                we have Lady Crystl outside but now that the second tunnel is in we intent to get some in early like you next season.

                  Twenty degrees here today Kittykat, but not as mild during the winter and early spring as Cornwall. I was born and grew up in South Devon, near Plymouth, so frosts were never as much of a problem as they are here in east Anglia. You've done really well with your potatoes though, generally reckon 3 months from planting to harvest.

                      Which alottments do you go to I have a plot on Eastern Lane camborne, do you have a plot at Redruth or do you grow at home.

                        I grow at home in my garden but ive been trying to find out about allotments in the area but no one seems to know, ive tried lanner parish, redruth parish, and kerrier but no one seems to ever reply how did you get yours?? -

                          I have a allotment down at Eastern lane camborne there is a waiting list but it seems to down quickley at times, if you are interested I could give you the mobile of the person who allocates the plots. If you would like to meet and come for a visit first i could show you around.

                              Yes the mobile number would be great! ive just noticed on another post that you are at Kehelland - do you live there, work there or own it?? i used to work there supporting a client
