Interesting results of mini trial

Last autumn, I put my leeks in. As you do.

I planted

15 watered in with seaweed feed
15 watered in with revive
15 with revive and used mycorrhizal fungi on the roots
15 with mycorrhizal fungi on the roots and watered in with water

They were all in a patch next to each other, with about 6 inches between each plant, in 3 rows of 5 for each batch.

The best all round results were the seaweed food. Second was the mycorrhizal fungi on it's own. The two with Revive were both pretty much the same.

My results are based purely on the number that have been harvested which means hitting about an inch diameter.

I wish now I'd tried the seaweed and fungi together. Next time maybe

I wonder if mulching with seaweed would work...with something covering the seaweed to stop it being smelly.

We don't have an issue with Aquaponics [so no need to roll those eyes ]. What we have an issue with is spammers pretending to be interested in something for the sake of trying to squeeze spam in under the radar.

Di, I mulched a lot of my plot over the winter with seaweed and it didn't smell at all I didn't lay it too thick, 2 inches at most in parts.

It was store bought seaweed feed. if it helps anyone, happy to share the results of any trials - as basic as this one was.

I use seaweed and I use MF - but never both together. Times will have to change methinks.
Have they got the CFS feed in GO yet?! Keep eyes peeled please!

It's always interesting to experiment. My problem is also with the science. What is there to prevent the micorrhiza or various nutrients spreading from one patch to the next ?

Thanks for sharing your trial, i've some shop-bought seaweed feed sitting in the shed somewhere, i might whip it out next time i'm transplanting.

I don't suppose you've done a trial to see whether removing the leaves of tomato plants speeds up fruit ripening have you? It's one of those gardening givens that i really question, so did a mini mini trial myself (does two plants count as a trial). I don't have the space to grow and experiment on a large scale, so it would be interesting to see some more conclusive results.
