My veg has been burnt in the coldframe!

I started hardening off some veg in a coldframe this week. I moved the coldframe into a different area of the garden on Thursday and my husband forgot to open it up for me during the day. When he did open it at 4pm, the leaves on some of the veg had shrivelled up and gone crispy - quite literally burnt in the heat.

The veg were peas, mange tout, purple sprouting, calabrese and broad beans.

Do you think they might recover or should I just replant and start again? The peas in particular look very sad.

Pretty sure they won't recover, and even if they do pick up a bit they won't give you a decent crop. Better to start again.

I agree with RL even if they did pick up they won't crop well and there is still plenty of time for a fresh sowing.

I had the same problem. Specially my squash I start new seeds because I think they not gonna give me a good crop. I didn't realised that now the sun is hot in the greenhouse. Last week when I forgot to open it the temp was over 54 degrees

Our chilllies and peppers which were on the windowsill have copped for it. Unbelievable considering it's March.

Start again, friend. Find one who won't burn your precious seedlings

Had the same problem last week, I lost a lot of Brassica seedlings. Good job they put 1000 seeds in a packet........

Thanks for the help. I think a few are salvagable but planted more of both broccoli this afternoon. I had no more mange tout seeds so had to go to the rather expensive garden centre to get some, but they also had a purple mange tout so had to buy those as well! Purple mange tout sounds great.

My tomatoes and chillis also took a pounding in the greenhouse on the same day - tigerella and a yellow variety both survived but the plum and a cherry variety both couldn't hack the heat. I have planted some more seeds today but know it's a bit late for tomatoes and I'm not sure it's worth replanting chillis at this late stage.
