Tomatoes different varietys in same growbag ok?

I'm growing 3 types of tomato this year, sungold moneymaker. And gardeners delight

3 of each type and 3 to a growbag, 9 plants in total

Trouble is different parts of my greenhouse get varying amounts of sunlight
I was going to put 3 of a single type in each growbag, but am wondering if one of each type in each growbag would be better

Prolly won't make a difference, but I don't want anything to hinder my crops

Hi Urban,
It won't make any difference, they all like the same sort of treatment. The only reason I keep the same variety together is because I like to know who is who so that I can compare productivity, flavour etc between varieties.
Mixing Bush and cordon types in the same bag may not be such a good idea as you may possibly get muddled as to which should have side shoots removed and which should be left. S'up to you!

Personally I would as said above bin the Moneymaker. They were developed purely for the weight of crop (for commercial growers) without any thought of taste.

Yes you could mix the rest if you wanted to but in a GH this shouldn't be necessary. Or you could get Morrison buckets and grow 1 to a pot, much easier to get the watering right than in grow bags.

As to putting bush toms into a grow bag where you already have 3 cordons, in my opinion this would only exacerbate the watering problems you will get if we have anything like a summer.

Definitely agree with using buckets. You'll most likely fill 4/5 with 1 bag.

As to your Tumbler I grow mine in hanging baskets on a south facing wall. Works a treat round here.

I'm doing 3 plants in 60lt bags of miracle grow mpc, each plant in a 30cm bottomless pot and putting in more compost as they grow, I think they'll have plenty of space to grow, but would it be better to have 2 per bag?

I may try that with the tumbling tons, I'm presuming they'll do better in the greenhouse though

i like moneymaker .... normally get a good crop and they taste just fine to me!

ooooh you're really spoiling them with all that compost!
3 tomato plants will grow quite happily in a normal grow bag, which is about 33 litres (levingtons)
and although people say to use 10" or 12" pots or buckets for each tomato plant, i've never had root systems that use up all that space / compost ....
i'd say you should be fine with 3 plants in that bag

cool, ill keep to one type per growbag, ill use all the moneymakers aswell, I do love my cherry toms for salads, but need a medium sized tom for my sarnies, I'm sure they will still taste better than supermarket toms

Urban your Tumbler won't need valuable GH space. I have reduced to just two tumbler from four this year along with 6 Sungold. That will supply us with toms for a year as there are only two of us.
