They do indeed. They are actually large plastic plant pots. But I really did water them alot that day. It was home-made compost mixed with manure which is probably more water retentive than MPC. Silly mistake.

I started them chitting in mid-december and they flew out of the compost. They've had plenty of foliage since say mid-february?? when I started to earth them up. I fleeced them during cold nights when I could and they haven't had any frost damage.

This year my Swift went in their buckets on 29/02 and were all showing by the 06/04. They are all doing well (fingers crossed) and I gave them some tomorite today. It will still be mid May before I get any worth while spuds.

Thanks, I'm popping up after work and will see if there are any tubers. And will give them some tomato feed.

That's pretty much what I do except I prefer to grow them in the tunnel border as it's less effort in watering / feeding etc. Have done this the last two years (since I got the tunnel) and it works very well.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

          Lucky Alison,

I have no ground, no tunnel so have to use pots. Mind you over the years I seem to do reasonbly well, but when I first started I nearly through my hand in. Just stubborn I guess.
