Best Runner Beans

me neither - im growing with fresh seed this year and have got a good germination (im growing blue lake - climbing and purple queen - bush) - which are a popular variety, so hopefully they will do well for me?

what's your insect population like? runner beans aren't self fertile, so if you were lacking in the pollinator department..myfather had a similar problem. He hadn't grown beans for years, and put some out the back to grow, but out the front of the house they have flowers everywhere. All the bees know this and go round the front for the pollen, but you rarely see one out the back....

In that kind of situation perhaps the new french x runner beans (moonlight etc) would be a better bet, if you really want the runner bean taste.
