visited my plot today and there is a lot of water lying on the plots. anyone else waterlogged

more heavy rain due on thursday followed by frost on weekend. not good

Hope it's not caused you too much grief hawthorns. All this rain really is a nuisance now.

If it's just in response to recent downpours then it should be ok. If it's a long term ongoing problem then it is more of a worry.
Established plants will probably be ok if it doesn't rain for the next few weeks solid, but seeds might just be washed away.
Rain certainly disturbs seeds anyway - there's NO WAY I could actually be planting in such wobbly lines.

Bet you wish your plot was on a 1 in 8 slope like mine. I do get flooding at the bottom where water is held back by the boundary wall but that does drain away eventually

Mine is totally, thoroughly, welly-sooking waterlogged. A spade or even a stick poked into the ground leaves a hole that immediately fills with water. I've been waiting 3 weeks to get my remaining tatties in and I'm just hoping that the ones that I put in at the end of March haven't rotted, there's no sign of leaves yet. It's often waterlogged in February and it did dry out in March but this is the latest in the year it's been this wet. Typical that this is the first year I've really been up and running and ready to get stuff sown/planted early.

I can sympathise, my garden was waterlogged over the weekend (posted in another thread). It's drained now but I'm crossing my fingers the plants haven't suffered unduly and keep checking the weather forecast every day in the vain hope it will be sunshine and not more showers!

My allotment and garden are sandy, freedraining soil but this year they are both extremely soggy.

where not fooded,but the ground is very wet,some spudz are barely poking up,so sympathise with those that have water standing,

I haven't dared to go and look. Was there last Thursday and it wasn't too bad. I'll either pop down tonight after work or tomorrow morning.

my beds are raised so not too bad, paths are underwater still.

Same here. One third of it is under water. Ma's red cardinal spinach is very soggy. Feels very demoralising, but I now know that raising two beds might be useful. The whole thingy is very squelchy.

Ours is on a slight slope and although the subsoil is clay its quite stony so drains pretty quick . Haven't been able to get up there since Monday so hoping Tues downpour hasn't had a dire effect.

totally wet through im on clay so its to be expected but in may surley its gotta stop raining soon and let everything dry up

Not too bad as I've got raised beds - the pak choi I planted just a day or so before the rain has already come through (Yes!) and the chickens are probalbly suffering from foot rot. but It not too bad.
Neighbours sunken garden thingy has sunk and is now a paddling pool that their daughter is splashing in. Unfortunately it is draining down our shared steps and my garden office is getting a bit wet and mouldy - dry out and fresh coat of paint should cure that though.

Is it April that's in like a lamb and out like a lion ? or is that MAY.

Roll on next week - itll probably be in the 80s
