According to the site my last frost date is late April, but we have frost forecast for this weekend. I do remember frost here in May a couple of years ago or so. I haven't got many potatoes up (probably still swimming ), and I will be covering my tomatoes with fleece in the GH.

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
Now a little Shrinking Violet.

I just want to know how you lot from the chilly north of england have bigger ones than me when I've moved to sunny brittany! Well apart from the constant rain of course... . My toms are still titchy, sitting in the tunnel waiting for the sunshine. Personally I think you've all been to Aldi'ssigpicGardening in France rocks!

My toms in the greenhouse are shivering and not thriving. It better warm up soon otherwise it was a waste of time sowing them at all.

Being ancient and used to bad weather, mine are inside a plastic 3 shelf greenhouse inside my glass greenhouse. Gets so warm that I have to open up the plastic one or I'll cook the plants.. even on days of only 10C..
(Plastic greenhouse placed on shelf: cost around £12 7 years ago - lasts well as never exposed to wind or rain.Original cover - mended a few tears.)Last edited by Madasafish; 04-05-2012, 04:28 PM.

I have fleeced up tonight.
Running out of GH room so most transplants have gone under the patiogrow and in the blowaway.
Planted out lettuce is going to have to fend for itself but I wouldn't be putting out anything tender yet. I would not want to lose the investment I have made in them since Feb.
All the best with you outdoor toms this weekend.

I am sitting on my hands waiting to put my tomatoes and chillis out...going on hols for 10 days on Sunday, so think I might chance a half and half approach..half in house, half in greenhouse...see what happens...ok ok, then maybe 66.6%/33.3% split.....I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
...utterly nutterly
