cuban black tomatoes

I got some seed of these in a swap but only managed to germinate one and even that is small and very slow growing compared to the other varieties I have.

Has anybody else grown it? is it always slow.........do I need more patience or shall I give up on it?

I sort of understand. My black cherry tomato and Minibel are a lot smaller than say the normal tomatoes. Thought it was my fault that they looked a little delayed in comparison. But did a bit of navel gazing, and considered that since the tomatoes are smaller, then it's relative. That made sense to me...

I haven't grown them but I've googled to lookat them [I'm intrigued by all things black tomato] and there seems ot be a discrepancy between what people call them, being described as beefsteaks, medium size fruits and as cherry type tomatoes...confusing....which ones are yours?

I have never grown 'black' toms before, but this year thanks to the vines influence I an growing Etheopian Black and Black Cherry. Both seem smaller plants than my other standard vareities.

I grow Black Cherry every year (love them) and those plants are quite a normal size compared with the Black Cuban

taff, I got the Cubans in a swap envelope, so I've no idea what the fruit should be like
as long as they survive - I guess I'll find out

I grew 'Ukranian black' tomatoes last year and they germinated fine. Slow to fruit because the weather was so bad up here. PM me for the company that sells them if you want....

I'm also growing Cuban Black for the first time this year (I�m hoping for small, flattish brown-black beefsteaks). My plant is still fairly young but seems on a par with the other varieties sown at the same time. Don�t give up on your plant just yet it may well pick up in a week or two. Perhaps your other tomato varieties are vigorous sorts? As already said Cuban Black�s description varies with different sites ranging from determinate, semi �det also a compact bush! If yours is a compact bush perhaps this is the reason for its size.
