Best way to grow Onions ?

Some exhibition growers will grow there onions in a perminate bed in order to build up fertility. If you are growing from seed they will need more feeding than sets. But sets will still benefit from good feeding.

Donna it is usual to give over wintered onions a liquid feed come March/April.

I sometimes think growing anything's easier in pots though plus you can move them round...

I agree with you in some cases - especially lettuces and radishes... but the constant need for watering can be challenging.

Better now that not at all. This year is going to be late anyway I think, I know mine are behind. Can't do any harm after all.

I never give mine a liquid feed and they do fine. Won't hurt though I reckon. They won't start bulbing up for a bit yet. Summat to do with day length. Still, longest day won't be long now *sigh*
