  • How do you choose.........

ok this is a question for those of us who grow way too many toms.........how on earth do you choose which stay in the gh and which ones have to brave it outside. ?
My bush toms will all be planted out at the lottie (apart from the basket ones which will be at home) but I can't decide which of the others will be indoors and which will either be in pots in at home or planted out at the lottie ......decisions, decisions.

I choose the best plants to stay in the greenhouse and the rest go outside and take their chances.

but some like Amish paste look a bit weedy at the beginning and then go for it later whereas some of t'others look sturdy from the start . Are some varieties better suited to indoors ?

Not a clue, Bins! I'm sure some are better suited to outdoors though. I've never had much luck with outdoor toms so it really is the odds and sods that get put outside. Any tomatoes are a bonus from that lot!

The ones that go to my lottie will be the ones that I can fit in the car. They're getting tall.

I dont have a GH so it will be some outside and some in the conservatory. Same as VC.

Hang on a mo. I'm sure someone who knows summat about toms will be along soon! Although the eenie meenie approach is the sort of thing I do too!!!

I can't believe you've split them up. Are they getting visitation rights?

                        Top Marks!!
They're still together, cosying up in the greenhouse. I hope they won't be too stressed at being separated but they'll have more room to play if a few go to the seaside.
All of the newbies will lead a cossetted indoor life, it will be my manky ones that will lead an outdoor life somewhere!
