wow growing lots of toms is the norm then makes my 6 look feeble.

will say the lady has planted her close together and has build a bamboo frame around them, also mixed in a couple of peppers basil and marigold inbetween, id say her toms are around 6 inch apart, will let you know how she gets on,

Ive only got a small green house so im limited to space inside as i have chillis peppers and cucumbers to grow inside as well as out

Think my fav glut will be sweetcorn this year I have bout 20 at mo at various stages yet to sow more

@Chris: As Zazen said; you just let them do their thing :-) Pretend they're wild tomatoes.
Having said that, the Starter tomatoes (9 this year) will be done 'correctly' - staked - as I need their armpits to harvest to make the 'Bonus' plants :-)

I have 21 plants at the moment - 6 varieties. Doesn't sound a lot compared to some but I have no garden, no allotment, no balcony, no patio........ just a bit of space front and back of my flat and a small blowaway. I got a bit carried away! I doubt they'll all fruit as I dont think I have optimum conditions for tomato growing but it's my first year of growing anything and I didn't realise I would have 100% germination. I think I'll be begging people to take them off my hands in the end.

Fifteen plants I think. A number of different varieties this year. I've never had an allotment before, so that's why I'm growing more than usually. Used to just grow Minibel and only one or two plants. Am going to throw them into the Wendy house in a week or two and then into the lotment once hardened off. I've never had toms go red on the plant, have had to take off and ripen inside in a Pyrex bowl. And then there is the blight.

29 with 5 different types, would of been 34 but the snails got at them in my greenhouse. last year i grew 8 of the same time and got some toms off them before blight set it. I am trying tumbling toms for the first time this year in hanging baskets.
I am also growing 9 peppers plants

I've got 26 (I think) 2 black cherry, 2 tigerella, 2 black russians (my favourites from last year) and the rest are all different, particularly excited about snowberry and garden peach! Made the mistake of planting all my seeds too early and lost the lot...so I've compensated by treating myself to every interesting Tomato seedling I can find on the basis it was a bit late to plant more. Can't walk past a garden centre these days without picking up a tomato plant or two.

I've got 15 varieties on the go, around 6 of each. 20 planted in the greenhouse borders already, some in tubs, a couple in hanging baskets and more to plant in the greenhouse on the weekend - But to be honest the best bit is giving some away, my little nephew (age 6) has badgered his Dad all week for compost!!! It really makes me smile

I've only a couple of dozen this year, about 4 varieties I think. I'll have a count up when I pot them on this weekend, hopefully.

yeh - its just a name we use for the leaf joint (where the leafs meet the stem)
