after weeks of cold weather and seedlings taking ages to sprout, the heatwave has fried loads of my seedlings ..... guess they just weren't big and strong enough to survive the heat ....
lost my 3rd lot of cucumbers, the watermelons, pumpkins, most of 2 trays of sweet peppers, most of our chillies, 40+ brassicas and probably loads more .... the 5th sowing of sweetcorn was the only sowing that sprouted .... 15 sown, 8 sprouted, 2 looking a bit crispy now ....
almost a disaster with the weather this year ....
all i need now is a frost to kill off all the spuds and toms ....
Looking impressive Colin....potatoes look v healthy...
Warm weather has certainly helped put on a growth spurt...my onions, parsnips, turnips, beetroot and potatoes have all grown strongly in last few weeks..Carrots less so for some reason...
As others say, it is easy tho to lose seedlings in this heat...I have lost sweetcorn ones so far and am now back germinating a few things in the house!!! Just when I was getting all the plants etc out
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22:2
How much does 6 dustbins of compost cost ?
I hope you use lots of your own !
Still they look good.
Jimmy
Don't think its a cost thing i would not dare tot up the cost of the compost i have had to purchase...it's more about the satisfaction and feeling of one's own wellbeing that negates the cost...unless it goes to excess :P
