Brussel Sprouts in a container, what do I feed them with?

After searching long & hard for the answer on tinternet, I thought I would ask the professionals

I wanted well rotted manure mixed with MPC to plant my seedlings into their buckets but I can't get any. I've now decided to just use MPC & then feed for the nutrients Brussel Sprouts need. What exactly do I feed them & how often?

How about nettle fertiliser/tea Choccy instead of manure? That's what Taff told me is good for brassicas.

If you have sprouts growing in a container you may have to support them with canes or something. They like to be firmly anchored and MPC isn't exactly a dense growing medium. They will appreciate a high nitrogen feed. Diluted urine is free and widely available.

Moo's mum, I read about nettle tea and the benefits. I may just make some up & give it a go. Plenty of nettles round by me.

Solway cropper, are you serious about the urine? I can imagine me being spotted by my neighbours squating over my watering can

I think you will want to add at least some (preferably a lot of) soil to the MPC,brussels in loose soil have a real tendancy to grow "blown" sprouts,they deffo need a good "heeling in".

i just watered a few plants at the lottie with my first batch of nettle tea (watered down ) if your thinking of making some invest in a nose clip

Bearded bloke there is a bit of room I could add soil to the top of the bucket so I shall do that to ensure they are more secure. Thank-you.

Hollychap I have pegs at the ready. Just need a container, nettles and the recipe!

Sorry to thread crash but I too was thinking about trying to grow some brussels in a large pot, I'd also considered grow bags too and just wanted some advise as couldn't find any on the internet.

Also, would they grow in flinty soil (pH tested at about 6-7) if I planted them up against my greenhouse?
