I have one of these in my veggie plot and its growing great guns (yay me!). Its produced 2 gorgeous big female flowers and no males so far. But the baby courgettes behind the flowers seem to be changing colour? Going darker green and getting slightly fatter. They cant have been pollinated cos theres no male flowers to use, or have they pollinated and i'll be drowning on courgettes very soon?

No idea SS -all you can do is wait. The un-pollinated ones turn yellow and fall off.Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to? -
They are VERY promiscuous! they could have been pollinated by any other curcubit plant in the vacinity! Squash or courgette etc!
wait a little while and like jeanie says if they turn yellow and drop off they they've no been polinated! if they turn into courgettes they they are okay!

Do they undergo a colour change if they are already yellow, or just kind of drop off without warning? I'm growing Soleil F1 and oh-so-eagerly watching it for babies...Originally posted by Jeanied View PostComment

The immature unpollinated courgettes just shrivel up when they are quite tiny. I tend to take them off and also pinch out most of the male flowers to encourage female ones. Dark green and fatter sounds promising. And it is quite amazing how quickly courgettes grow.
