i bought some pumpkin seeds and they have grown nicely on my window ledge, i have recently moved them outside onto a wall shelf in my garden in bigger pots, i have a nice bit in my garden that would be a perfect place to plant them. but one problem it only gets about 3-5 hours of sunlight in the afternoon/evening.. will this be enough for pumpkins or would it be worth me getting a greenhouse to go over them to keep them warm?

They need sunlight more than warmth, imo. Growing them dark but warm will make them all long and floppy and weak.
Just plant them in the sunniest place you have, even if that's in a pot and you have to move the pot around the garden to follow the sun.All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

Why would it be difficult? The fruits will lie on the ground when they're big, but until then you can move the pot around to follow the sun.

ahh i was having a dumb moment then haha.. i guess the fruits would find anywhere to grow wont they,
i have mammoth pumpkins, i can keep them small cant i so i dont get loads of fruits and they dont take over my garden as the place i get the most sun i was wanting to put other things aswell.

If you are really quick you could try either Windsor F1 or Hooligan F1 pumpkins the fruits are only small, but they are for container growing so may suit your circumstances better than a large fruiting varietyHe who smiles in the face of adversity, has already decided who to blame

I have a hooligan. Pumpkin. Despite it being a container grower, I'm growing it in open ground; upwards hopefully. Currently has two babies, that may or may not actually come off. Tis the first year that I'm growing hobbit sized pumpkins. I grew a ghost rider last year, one fruit through sheer fluke.
