Those lettuces won't last you long, BM. Take at look at this :-

Diets for some of the animals at Bristol Zoo:
      • Jock the silverback gorilla -On an average day, Jock will eat 6 iceburg lettuces, 5 leafy lettuces, 4½ large carrots, 3½ chicory, 1 pepper, 4½ tomatoes, one celery, 1 parsnip, 1 leek, 2 boiled eggs, 1 broccoli, a quarter of a bunch of grapes, a varying amount of browse and 2 litres of diluted fruit juice.

They're not "only lettuce", they're pretty much perfection! Mine are still languishing in little modules, begging to be planted out. Wish I'd got a move on a bit earlier!

Nice of you to say Sarriss but when I read posts from other grapes I realise in fact how little I know & the little I do know has come from the vine so your compliment has rightly been passed onto the vine.

ONLY lettuce ! Ooh, now he's rubbing it in...I had such lettuce envy the instant I saw your picture...I grind my teeth every time I buy a pair of Little Gems from T*sco for more than I can afford...this is my lettuce so far this year...

Still, I'm pleased with my turnips, they are romping away now...

I think we appreciate your achievement better than most, BM.

Cheers Sno, I can't grow anything ending in "nips" so I don't even bother trying.

Thankfully my stuff ending in nips is going well..
But your lettuce looks way better than mine..

                              Nice one BM.
I would never have guessed this was your first year! that is so impressive....and to the everyday Joe who buys lettuce from the supermarkets then yeah i guess it is 'only lettuce' but to everyone here it is a marvelous and heart warming sight...and gives me hope that those 'weeds' i have growing will eventually turn into something edible

Fabulous crop BM, looks like you've worked really hard on the soil there. The chard looks great also.
