  • courgette leaves turning white.

I checked my courgettes today and their leaves have white patches on them, are these anything to be worried about?

I have taken some photos https://picasaweb.google.com/1176347...20259922183090

    Many thanks

I have no idea what the problem is - but to me it looks like they need feeding by transplanting.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Thanks for the replys, they are in their final (Morrison's buckets) positions, so will add some fertilizer and start to harden off to move outside.

        Many thanks

I think you'll be watering a lot if they are in Morrison's buckets. I could be wrong as I've never grown then in containers only the open ground. Perhaps someone else who's grown in containers will be along.

I grow courgettes in containers and have to agree with Wendy MF'Bs are not ideal. I find I have to use a planter at least twice as big.

hi ,as far as I know, courgette leaves don't like to be wet and if they stay wet for long ,just turn patchy and white ,then dry off and dye, so try watering from under the leaves at the base of the stem, unless it rains and there isn't much you can do. It happened to me as well ,but new growth looks fine and they have many little courgettes.

it looks like they've been blown by the wind a bit. I've got sweet peas and beans that look the same. Probably wong but still , being wrong has never stopped me form sharing
Make sure you keep on top of watering and feeding because morrisons buckets are awfully small for big old courgette plant.

I tried flower buckets last year and couldn't keep up with the watering. Builder's buckets were not much better. Colin's right about needing very large containers. If you can't get them into the ground, could you transplant one plant each into growbags, or those big rubber trug things with holes in? I've no space in the ground this year, so I've bought growbeds for them. I thought before I saw the pictures it was going to be powdery mildew, but it's a bit early for that, so they're probably just in need of feed and transplanting.

I agree with Florence Fennel, they are hungry plants and need an awful lot of soil to grow in. If this is possible then they will pick up in no time at all.
