  • Help sorting tomatoes

    Hya

I have accidently mixed up my toms varieties them being:

    San Mozano
    Mortgage lifter
garden pearl (Bush variety)-(Garten pearl) on the packet so probably German.

If anyone can help me with any distinguishing features on either of the above tomato varietes i would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance

If you Google each of these varieties you'll see that the Flower trusses for Gardenperle look a lot different to the others. Gardenperle will have lots of flower buds in a cluster and the bushy habit will also make the plant look different to the other 2. I would say that GP will be the odd one out, compared to the others.
If you post photos we may be able to guess!

Here's one of my San Marzano 3. A very tomatoey looking tomato. I have a packet of Garden Pearl but I'm giving those a break this year as they went 'crackers' all over the ground last year. If I remember, the leaves had a slight grey tinge to them.

          Hope this helps. Cheers, Tony.

Gartenperle is grows low and bushy from the outset, the others have more upright growth

don't know if this will help you but the marmande i'm growing look a bit different - they have a cluster of flower buds right at the very top of the plant and one bud in particular that is larger than the others but whether this is true of other beefsteaks i couldn't tell you...

i guess you just need to figure out which one is the bush type so you treat it different to the others i.e. don't remove the side shoots?

              good luck.
