Is this scorch?

sorry no pics at present (will try to get some later if necessary) but does this sound like scorch or something different.

The leaves on my indoor tomato plants (red robin) are going yellow/white on the edges and getting dry and papery. Mainly the lower leaves. New leaves at the top look fine. They are on the window sills indoors and always get watered from the bottom. Does this sound like scorch? And if so what can I do about it? Should I be worried?

It seems so. Just cut the entire leaf stem off and it should be fine

How long have they been in the compost? Have you fed them at all? Could be lack of trace elements.

They have been in their current compost for about 4 weeks now (john innes young plant compost). I haven't given them any food as I thought I didn't feed them until they flowered and there is no sign of flowers? I have some tomorite - should I give them some of that?

as colin advice me and work very well give a bit of general feed as miracle grow and then when flower a tomato feed one...

That compost contains very little nutrients as it is made purposely for young plants (strangely enough). As Sarico says some general fertiliser BFB or Growmore, followed by high nitrogen (Miracle Gro) and then when you have toms on the plant change to tomorite for high potash.

Do you mean give 2 separate foods at the same time (ie pretty much one after another)? BFB (blood fish bone?) followed by something like miracle gro, or give those 2 separately eg about a week apart?

The plants are about 5-6 weeks old and are still in 3 inch pots. Being a compact bush variety, I'm not sure how big they will get but I was fully expecting to have to put them into bigger pots soon with a multi purpose compost but they are not pot bound and I don't want to move them just for the sake of it.

Thanks for the advice. I despair of getting any tomatoes at all tbh as none of my plants, indoors or out, are showing any sign of wanting to produce flowers, let alone tomatoes. The outdoor ones are drowning in the rain so I am relying on the indoor ones to give me some toms.

I would pot them on into MPC this will provide basic nutients and after that feed with miracle grow once a week until they fruit.
