Saving sensui onion seeds

has anyone grown from self saved seeds,seeing how i got a nice flower head comming on 1,the rest have been docked,thought about giving them a go if they rippen,i managed to get some regular ones to grow on,and are now sitting in the ground,although smaller than the sets,so wondered if it would work with the sensui,it should,but are they specialy doctored for the purpose,hence sets only,we like our challenges,don't we,
