    There's a saying about that - what's worse than finding a caterpillar in your salad? Half a caterpillar.

    In France my Dad had carpaccio, and found a maggot on it. He thought it was a caterpillar and flicked it off, and since maggots aren't technically dirty either I didn't correct him...

      I once found a worm when peeling apples I'd picked.

      Nothing odd about that except, you know when someone in a cartoon finds the worm in the apple and it stands right up out of the apple and wriggles?

      Well that's exactly what this worm did, causing much hilarity my end and disapproving looks from the OH as we were meant to be "processing" - hey ho!

        TOKIG Salad spinner - IKEA

        highly recommended... separate the leaves of salad and rinse (witha attention to unwanted additions!) before spinning

        (edit: oops, that seems to be from the US catalogue: it is definitely available in the UK)
