  • potatoes first harvest ?!?!?!?!?!

    hi everyone
this afternoon i was outside trying to cover my tomatoes considered that the weather is not nice and i had a general pick to all my plants...
one of my potatoes red duke of york in the flower pot had the stem broken and had some flower buds on top... considered that was broken and the flower buds where on the top i decide to lift it up to see if they are grow.. i was surprised what i found.. they are very tiny but the fact that they are growing i'm happy with that.. now my questions are:
    1. are this potatoes edible? even the big ugly one?( i know they are red duke of york but the color is so red)
    2. if yes what is the best way to eat them? ( i forgot what the packet said)
3.the other one left when you think is the best time to harvest them? is already the week 13 since plant them but i know with this weather they will be very late...

    thanks for the help

Nice one Sarico, Red Duke are a first early so should take about 10 to 12 weeks but this has been a bad year so they may take longer.

I have not grown Red Duke myself but could the ugly one be the original seed potato?

The Ugly Duck of York - it gets better all the time, Sarico!! Like the matching plate - I can tell you're a chef Presentation matters!
I think the ugly one is the seed potato too - if you cut it open it will probably look and feel quite different to the others.
          Enjoy your meal!
