or they're just hungry...don't get despondent yet...check the stems, if it's blight, you should see blackened sooty areas around the joints.

Mine are finally growing to a reasonable size, but nothing on any of them except the shop bought ones [sungold, and a couple of cherry plums]

Got my first little green tomato appear on the Outdoor Girl variety! Lots of flowers on them, also on the Maro (cant remember...bush variety!) and the tumbling toms in the window boxes are flowering nicely.
Not a hint of a flower on the Purple Cherokee in the blowaway bt as it was a freebie Im not too bothered.
Nice to see flowers on the cukes too!

Hello all,

I've had a couple of false starts this year - but it seems that my tomatoes are liking the warm humid weather we've been having recently. They've shot up about 20cm in a week and hopefully might start flowering soon.

my first red tomato are fron a tumbler hanging basket.. it was full size for a month. lovely texture but flavour.... nice but not sweet... maybe is the rain and the lack of sun...so i went morrison for shopping and i found in reduction tomato growhouse... bought 4 of them.. i hope they help me...

Sarico spot on mate the lack of sun/warmth means the tome can't produce sugar as they normally would.

Not so bad, actually, to my surprise. The ones outside in pots are growing nice and sturdy and both are blooming. Too early to tell if they've set any fruit. My indoor Micro Tom plants, on the other hand, are groaning with fruit, 18 on one and 15 on the other at last count. They're still only 3 inches high!

My Shirley were all grown from seed & at 2ish weekly intervals. It hasn't made much of a difference as the weather has made them kinda catch up with each other.

Half have flowers and half have tomatoes growing, I'm so happy

I certainly won't be planting as many next year as my greenhouse is filled with them & I believe 'Shirley' is a greenhouse plant so I can't even bring some outside.

I guess it will be home-made tomato soup, tomato salad with tomato pasta and tomato cake soon!

Mine were doing great untill I woke up to find them all bent over. I think I had left them too long without support. some of my trusses had broke off and loads of flowers have been lost . I live and learn as I am new to all this.

I have supported them now and hope they grow back . btw does it matter if i have supported one by tying string round it and then round the outside of the GH in order to kind of hold it in with string? Just untill I can get more canes.

Will trusses reform?

Rob 2 of mine fell over that were in growbags in the greenhouse, it damaged the stalks where they bent but I proped them up with bamboo canes & tied string around the tops and attached that to a metal support that my boyfriend added to the structure of the greenhouse.

It worked because there are now flowers/tomatoes on them.

Lots of green fruit on red alerts in GH. Other GH toms are looking OK and setting fruit, but without real enthusiasm. Outside ones have stalled, probably in shock at being ejected from the greenhouse with hardening off...

I'm sure I'm usually more or less self-sufficient come the start of July, but still not much beyond rocket, corgettes and a few herbs this year. What are the broad beans doing????

I have 0 tomatoes from my gardeners delight outside ones. Hope they will do well.

I have still only had 1 tom. Lovely healthy plants lots of flowers and fruit but do to the weather nothing is moving on. So today we took a drastic step, all GH toms were reduce down to just 4 trusses in the hope that what is left will grow and ripen.

Slowly getting there but still only 70% full size. Could really do with a nice August to bring them all on now.

I thought my yellow stuffer and marzano had blight but not so sure now.. bottom leaves went yellow and brown over a week ago but they have not deteriorated further. they have flowers and only little dots of tomatoes although I am doubting there will be time for them to mature.

On the other hand the sweet millions that I nearly gave up on in May as they were so leggy and weak, are now growing great up trellis with small tomatoes showing - so there is hope yet..

My outdoor toms are all alive and healthy, but so very behind/slow compared to what they were like this time last year.

This morning I spotted my first red tomato (tumbling tom) hidden amongst the dense foliage - it really took me by surprise because it seems to be the only one. I reckon I will give it a few more days to sweeten up (wishful thinking) before popping it in my mouth!
