  • Blunder of the month

I've put so much time & effort into my plants in my first year of growing my own.

One particular plant, Strawberry Toscana F1, that I grew from seed has started stinging me everytime I move the leaves to water it. I questioned this with my partner & without him seeing it, he blamed it on the little thorns.

I carried on giving it plenty of water, weekly food, tlc & continue to admire it's growth.

An hour ago, my daughter came into the greenhouse when she came home from work to say hello & I showed her my stinging strawberry plant & told her to be careful if she has to water it...

She only bursts out laughing & calls my boyfriend in and shows him my healthy 'strawberry plant', they both start laughing and I am left wondering what I've done wrong. When they calm down they tell me it's not a strawberry plant, it's a nettle

Do I win any kind of gardener of the year award for this?

If I had an award, I'd give you a nice big choccy one, C8M!! The clue was the stinging I guess....

My garden is full of baby stinging nettles, so I am most familiar with 'em!

      I am such a nincompoop!

I'm going to make nettle tea so this is my starter plant. I could say it was intentional but I don't think anyone would believe me.

That reminds me of when my neighbour's lodger asked for advice about his pot plant that he had been keeping on the bedroom windowsill and feeding religiously with Baby Bio. You should have seen his face when I told him it was groundsel
