  • Charlotte/Pink Fir Apple flower colour

Planted a row of Pink Fir Apple and a Row of Charlotte
Wrote some labels but they stayed on kitchen work top.
    Forgot which row is which.
One row now has pink flowers and one row white.
Any ideas which is which ?

    Thanks
    Jimmy

You'll soon know which is which when you dig the first lot up. Or as the saying have a firtle and you will then see from any potatoes growing which is which.

        Thanks for the replies

Still got some in the special spud grow bags, so will use those first.
Although the flowers on these are long gone.
The bag I emptied a few days ago was pink fir apple.
There were hundreds of spuds but they were all very little.
        What causes small spuds ?
I watered but didn't feed although I dumped in some grow more and manure when I filled the bags.

Pink Fir Apple is a late maincrop potato. There is no way on earth that it would be big enough to eat now, Jimmy. You are too impatient!!

Indeed it is: I've been able to harvest them in December some years, but certainly not lifted them before about Sept.

Sometimes people think salad potato means early potato: it doesn't. It means a waxy spud that holds its shape when boiled (not a masher). You can get salad spuds as earlies and as maincrops.

OK I leave the other PFA bag till later and not dig the row in the ground.
I think Charlotte should be OK now.

I take Charlottes from baby salad size through to massive chippers. Love em!
