    i agree with you in this.. infact i pick a bowl full of mange tout but only 4 peas pod... i have a small patio garden at home and i only grow them in pots so one pot for only 4 pod is not a good deal but honestly i start to grow my own veg because i love tasty food ( that's why i'm a chef) and even if you buy good quality product in the restaurant and home they don't taste as fresh as yours and i don't believe that you can make a nice dish with flavorless food...not even god.
    my point is that i grow for the taste e not for value...i don't get much from my garden but is nice that few time i have a nice dish that you can't buy anywhere...
