  • How tall do these tomato varieties grow?

I'm in need of some basic advice. I bought some tomato plants at the weekend to supplement my poorly looking plants grown from seed. I just bought what was available and now find that the labels in the plants aren't terribly forthcoming about how tall they will grow, whether they need to be supported etc. and I'm struggling to find information from my friend Google. So I'm hoping you helpful lot can enlighten me.

    1. Golden peardrop - info label says it has "stocky, bushy growth" but that I do need to pinch out side shoots. So is this a bush variety? How tall will it grow? Do I need to tie it to a cane for support? It's currently about 12 inches tall and quite bushy.

    2. Balconi red - again little help on the label but I gather this is a smaller bush type that doesn't need to be supported? Do I need to pinch out side shoots or just leave it be?

    3. Roma plum tomato - just described as "heavy cropping, vigorous bush". So again, how tall will it grow and does it need supporting?

    Thanks.

Balconi red only grows 12/15ins and tumbles a bit.
Roma can grow up to 3ft and will need supporting with short canes when full of toms (hopefully )
Golden peardrop I've not grown, DT Brown says it's a trailing plant for hanging baskets, yet myfolia says it grow up to 4.5 ft so would need a cane. So I'm confuzzled

Forgot to say that if you grow Golden peardrop as a trailing tom, none of them will need pinching out.

Thanks but I can't open any of those links. My internet connection is not the fastest (I am using mobile broadband) and they are just taking ages to load.

The golden peardrop doesn't look like it's going to be a trailing plant - it's pretty sturdy at the moment. But then again, I dont know much about trailing tomato plants - do they grow upwards then start to trail over at the last minute?

Can I join in this thread. I'm growing these things called mandurio. Google says they are indeterminate, but the packet says indeterminate.

Looking at the plants so far, they look pretty indeterminate to me (certainly nothing sturdy about them) and I've done a bit of pinching out. Big mistake?

              Nicky's Nurseries says
Hybrid tomato Mandurio produces a good yield of dark red plum tomatoes with a slight nipple. Best given support. Determinate (Bush)

It's nicky's nurseries who are confusing me, as the actual seed packet doesn't agree with their website!

They're in my bad books anyhow for sending a couple of packets of seed treated with some nasty chemical saying don't handle with bare hands. This hasn't exactly filled me with enthusiasm for eating them and they're still in their packets.
