  • Anyone tried growing coloured cauliflower?

Has anyone grown coloured cauliflower i.e green, orange and purple. If so can anyone tell me if you can sow some in late summer for a spring crop. I read an article saying you could plant feb/mar for june/july crop, june for autumn crop and august for spring, but i have just read another article saying that coloured cauliflowers don't over winter well. Can anyone enlighten me? Thank you

The type I grew was for autumn harvesting but it would depend on the variety. They were a lovely shade of purple though.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Most of the coloured ones will not overwinter unless you are in a very mild area. However, Purple cape is hardy and is probably related to purple sprouting broccoli, but with a larger central head.

Romanesco is not hardy and needs to be eaten before the frosts.
