Tall sugar snap variety please?

For the last 3 years I've grown Sugar Anne - the first year it was above knee high, but the last 2 years it's been really low growing - and my back doesn't like that!

I've been Googling and can't see any British Suppliers of tall sugar snaps - does anybody grow them and know where I can get some seed?

Or is it ok to order from the American websites, saw some on Burpee's site?

It looks like the variety 'Sugar Snap' (how confusing is that!) would work - how about Pea Seeds Sugar Snap - Quality Seeds - Next Day Despatch or Pea 'Sugar Snap' Seeds

I might have to try some myself. I'm growing 'Sugar Bon' but I'm not impressed - poor germination and sloooooooow. I sowed them two months ago and they're barely six inches tall.

Do you have an ebay account? theres a few varieties on there. Im growing Carouby de mussane (which is a mange tout variety) and it is currently only got flowers above 5ft high and ive just looked at some pictures of the pods they produce - and they are massive, go and have a gander!

Ive been picking mangetout off my oregon sugar snap for about 10 days now. They're 5ft tall, least, the ones in the plackytunnel are.

Sorry to hear about your showing eirish, my Mr Fothergill's Sugar Bon are doing quite well. I'm not gloating, just saying don't give up. Cheers, Tony.

Thanks, Tony. I've just planted another round, hoping they'll get their act together! I'm also growing Kelvedon Wonder and Oregon Sugar Pod, which are looking better, so it's not all gloom. Although there's still no sign of flowers or pods yet...

Looks as if I missed the variety 'Sugar Snap' amongst all the other sugar snaps LOL off to have a look now

Try the real seed company, I have grown their golden sweet mangetout this year for the first time, and the plants are about 7ft high and still growing, with loads of peas just hanging down ready for picking. They are also bright yellow, easy for seeing and picking. Worth a try ;-)

Thanks for trying to help, but as I said I wanted sugarsnaps, not mangetout - there is a difference.
Mangetout are skinny when you eat them, sugarsnaps have fleshy rather than flat pods and can be eaten even when the peas are filling the pod.
Then, cos you're eating peas and pod, you get a really good yield per plant.
At least you do if you can reach to pick them
