Horribly windy! Two garlic stems broken so I had garlic for tea.

i have resown french beans twice ,carrots and parsnips twice,,lost 90% of our apple crop due to the cold but the peppers in the g/house have finally taken off, but,it is still better than last year when the sun went in in june and then went on his holidays til march, constant overcast weather made me feel like a working pitpony, working in the gloom, the melons just stopped growing and rotted in the g/house,this year we seem to have missed the awful weather the poor people of yorks, lancs and cumbria have suffered,we usually get all that but this year it keeps running out of steam before it gets to us,so any good conditions must be counted as a bonus and just enjoyed, but i wish everyone a fine growing season.....but i am not holding my breath...

Look on the bright side though - at least you can blame the weather! How bad would you feel if the weather had been perfect and you'd still had nothing to show for your efforts! But I agree, it is depressing. Let's hope we have another mild winter like last year, and we can all grow some winter stuff to make up for it!

I don't know when it's going to start, but I really hope it's soon. I'm sick of these outbursts of bad weather.

For us in the Southeast the next few weeks don't look to bad
Better than for everyone further North anyway..............

This may throw some light on when we can expect to experience summer and why -

Just popped up to the lottie to find a load of raspberry canes have keeled over - presumably in the heavy winds. On the upside since last time a load of peas are ready so guess what we had for tea (and quite a few straight from the pod!!) So not all bad!

Climbing French Beans came up but very bad germination 25% I would say.
So they opened their first seed leaves and have just stopped.
Normally they are like rockets once out the ground.
Most other stuff seems to be on hold.
Cumbers + Courgettes under frames look a bit happier.

I know what you mean My allotment is a complete mess this year :/ In March I was all happy preparing the Allotment and though I had a nice head start with the nice warm sunny weather we had got all my potatoes in and then put my board beans and carrots and parsnips in and what has happened is the grass is soo high now, weeds everywhere, Soggy soil because of the cold wet clay, No carrots or Parsnips shown atall, Broad Beans have produced a couple of beans each but stopped and the Runner Beans are doing useless as theres no sun soo all we have are Potatoes

On the other hand my Polytunnel when I can get down to the allotment is doing fairly fine as its not been too hot inside Its just as theres no sun its in such a mess that I think I will just have to put in Winter Crops to have a try and recover some cost. I would just say for now do what ive done and start stuff in the Greenhouse I will just need too leave the carrots, onions and parsnips for another year

                                Would love to

I noticed over the weekend that my carrots have made an appearance along with my kale
